WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- Japanese calligraphy techniques from the basics
- Different styles and forms of Japanese calligraphy
- A new theme each month, with individual guidance and feedback

HOW THE CLASS WORKS
LIVE GUIDANCE
・Join the live class using a computer or tablet.
・KASHUŪ will demonstrate each movement while observing your brushwork and offering guidance in real time. You can watch the demonstrations closely and practise together during the class.
MONTHLY PRACTICE
・You will practise different forms of Japanese calligraphy using a monthly textbook.
・Each month, you may submit artworks to the Japan Calligraphy Foundation for assessment and possible promotion in rank.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING
If you are unable to attend a live online class, you may submit a photo of your work by the lesson date to receive individual feedback and guidance.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership is for six months and includes:
- Two 90-minute online lessons per month
- A monthly textbook delivered to your home
- Individual guidance and feedback
You are welcome to join at any time.
Materials are not included and should be prepared individually. Recommended suppliers will be provided.

GRADING & QUALIFICATIONS
The grading system begins at 10th kyū and progresses through the dan ranks up to 8th dan.
Students who reach dan level may also work towards further qualifications and instructor certification.

THE JAPAN CALLIGRAPHY FOUNDATION
(Nihon Shūji)
Founded in Fukuoka, Japan in 1953 by Kanpo Harada, Nihon Shūji was established to pass Japanese calligraphy on to future generations while preserving its philosophy of tradition, beauty and love of calligraphy.
KASHUŪ School of Japanese Calligraphy is an official branch of Nihon Shūji.
