For the London based Japanese calligrapher KASHUŪ, Calligraphy is her life-long practice to train and purify the mind. The age-old tradition is a discipline of beauty, a search towards pure form and peace within.

Her mission guiding all her projects is to spread a mindful way of living through the spirit of Japanese Calligraphy.

KASHUŪ was born in Kumamoto, Japan in 1979 and started Japanese calligraphy at the age of 6. In 1998, at the age of 18, she was given the title of “Master” and the following year, she..

For the London based Japanese calligrapher KASHUŪ, Calligraphy is her life-long practice to train and purify the mind. The age-old tradition is a discipline of beauty, a search towards pure form and a peace within.

She has been commissioned by a host of notable clients and companies around the world in a variety of presentations and media. Her mission guiding all her projects is to spread a mindful way of living through the spirit of Japanese Calligraphy.

KASHUŪ’s recent projects include a giant Japanese calligraphy performance in Royal Botanic Garden of Kew, a collaboration with ARMANI, Mastercard(2019 Rugby World Cup advert), Chivas Regal package design and, a commission of the book title ‘Studies from Nature’ from the great master of ukiyo-e, Kitagawa Utamaro (c.1754–1806) which had been nominated for ‘Best British Book’ at British Book Design & Production Awards 2019. Her designs for Japan’s No.1 coffee company UESHIMA can be found in supermarkets nationwide.
